Vaughan’s Public House: Authentic Irish Fare in Hartford
February 16, 2016 | trioonline
There is no shortage of Irish bars in Hartford, but few of them have the pedigree of Vaughan’s Public House. This exceptional pub oozes authenticity, and regulars rave about the atmosphere and food. The décor is comfortable, with music playing and several TVs tuned to a variety of sporting events. Food here is classic Irish pub fare, with some favorites including the incredibly filling Potato Soup, the Glenkerry Potatoes smothered in curry sauce and sour cream, and the Black and Tan Battered Onion Rings. Entrees that win raves include the Gaelic Steak with a whiskey mushroom sauce and the dense, filling Farmhouse Pie. The beer selection is classic Irish; Smithwicks, Harp, Bass and of course Guinness are all available, and there's a decent wine list. Prices are quite reasonable and portion sizes are very generous.
